The Little Red Hen.

The Little Red Hen is an English folktale that has been passed on from storyteller to storyteller for many generations before it was written down. A writer and expert on English folklore by the name of Joseph Jacobs is believed to have been the first to write and publish the story in the late nineteenth century. Many other writers and artists have recorded various versions of the story.

In all versions, the little red hen is a hard working character. Most of the versions have a lazy cat, but depending on the storyteller or writer the other characters may be a mouse, a dog, a goose, a duck, a cow or a horse. Sometimes these characters are dozing off, sleeping or just playing. Sometimes the hen bakes bread, or a cake, and yes in one version the hen bakes a pizza! The animals don't want to help and the hen does not share what she has baked, well, with one exception.

HAPPY FATHER´S DAY!

A dad is someone who wants to catch you before you fall but instead picks you up, brushes you off, and lets you try again.

A dad is someone who wants to keep you from making mistakes but instead lets you find your own way, even though his heart breaks in silence when you get hurt.

A dad is someone who holds you when you cry, scolds you when you break the rules, shines with pride when you succeed, and has faith in you even when you fail.

The Lion and the Mouse.
The Lion and the Mouse is an Aesop's fable. In the fable, a lion wants to eat a mouse that wakes him up. The mouse begs forgiveness and promises to return the favor if ever he is given the opportunity. He also makes the point that such unworthy prey as he should not stain the lion's great paws. The lion is moved to uncontrollable laughter and when he recovers, lets the mouse go, stating that he has not had such a good laugh in ages.
Later, the lion is captured by hunters and tied to a tree; the lion roars with all his might so that someone might help him. The mouse hears the lion's pleas and frees him by gnawing through the ropes. The moral of this story is stated in the last line of the fable:
Little friends may prove great friends.
"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted".

Huachipa Zoo.
During the week my dear Lambs were very enthusiastic about learning more of zoo animals and of course visiting the zoo. So last Friday we took the bus and visited The Huachipa zoo. Children were so excited when they arrived and while they were walking around the zoo. They asked so many interesting questions, here some of them:
Miss, why the giraffes are tall and has a tail? Why lions has long hair? Why the snakes shed their skins? Why crocodiles are green? Why zebras has stripes? Why geese use their peaks to scratch their bodies? Each question showed the interest in learning and the innate curiosity of each one.
They also had the opportunity to fed the little ducks, to carry a little bunny and to have a drive by train around the zoo.
Here some pictures of the visit.

VEGGIE PATCH.
Today more people are looking for healthy and easy ways to consume veggies as a part of a healthy diet. That´s why every year at St. George´s School we start working on the Veggie Patch.

Veggie Patch produces vegetarian food that are easy to prepare, nutritional, and delicious. This year Pre Kinder Lambs plant lettuce. Some information we need to know about Lettuce properties.

Lettuce (Lactuca sativa) is a temperate annual or biennial plant of the daisy family Asteraceae. It is most often grown as a leaf vegetable. In many countries, it is typically eaten cold, raw, in salads, sandwiches, hamburgers, tacos, and in many other dishes. In some places, including China, lettuce is typically eaten cooked and use of the stem is as important as use of the leaf. Both the English name and the Latin name of the genus are ultimately derived from lac, the Latin word for “milk”, referring to the plant’s milky juice. Mild in flavour, it has been described over the centuries as a cooling counterbalance toother ingredients in a salad.
